But every trail upholds the same philosophy: to ensure visitors learn how to protect and respect the environment. Whether you are interested in discovering the local flora and fauna, particularly rich in Nièvre, or the Department’s legendary historical heritage, exploring the region by foot is change of scenery guaranteed.

• Signed footpaths
The flat country of Les Amognes at the heart of Nièvre, the valleys of Yonne on the footsteps of the wood rafters, and the vineyards of Sancerre, Pouilly-sur-Loire and Coteaux-du-Giennois all offer a selection of fascinating trails to follow.
For fans of long-distance rambling, the best way to explore Morvan is to take paths GR 13 or GR “Pays Le Tour du Morvan”, which runs along the great lakes: 220 km in 10 stages, and the Loire via GR 3 or GR 654.

The Departmental Rambling Committee and Tourist Offices offer nature lovers a selection of fun and friendly walks to discover the entire Department. Meetings are held every weekend of the year and for special rambling events.
